Known bugs

The bugs published on this page are mainly computational bugs that affect the calculation results. There should be a bug fix patch for each bug, or at least a plan for when the bug will be fixed.

As a service to our customers we also make patches for other bugs reported to us. We do not publish these patches on this page but send them directly to customers reporting the problem.

Make sure to include the patch number.

Service Pack
With certain intervals we collect fixed bugs into a Service Pack (SP) that is installed in the same way as a new version. A Service Pack includes fixes for both computational bugs and other bugs.


October 17, 2018

Radiance daylight calculation: If a daylight calculation is performed for a zone after changing the name of the zone and if the 3D tab was opened before the name change, the calculated daylight factor or illuminance level will be too low. If the user after the name change goes to the 3D tab and does View > Refresh or closes and reopens the model, this does not happen.

Radiance daylight calculation: Detailed windows with ventilated construction (double glass façade) are represented by a geometry with incorrect optical properties. This can lead to over- or under-estimation of the daylight levels.

3D view: When the 3D view is loaded or refreshed the 3D geometry is unnecessarily redrawn a large number of times. This can lead to long loading and refreshing times for large models which can be a significant inconvenience. It will not have any effect on any calculation results.

Radiance daylight calculation: Walls and slabs consisting of only one material layer has the same surface properties on both sides in the geometry sent to Radiance. This can cause wrong daylight results if the surfaces properties should be different.

Defining constructions: The warning that a wall/slab construction is defined differently in adjacent zones, shown when running a simulation, has accidently been removed. If a wall/slab construction is defined differently in adjacent zones one construction is chosen by the program which may cause unexpected results.

Radiance daylight calculation: If integrated shading of the type Micro lamella is used in the detailed window model, some of these windows may get zero daylight transmission due to a memory handling problem in our 3D environment. The problem occurs randomly and is not controllable by the user. If you do get light through the window, it should be correct.

Tilläggsmodulen Miljöbyggnad: För indikator 3 (solvärmelast) och indikator 11 (termiskt klimat sommar) hämtas resultatet för max solvärmelast och PPD felaktigt från september månad enbart, och inte från alla månader från mars till och med september.

Radiance daylight calculation: If a surface material with a specularity value (the amount of shininess) larger than 0 is used for non-transparent walls or shading objects the reflection is underestimated. For shiny materials like mirror and metal surfaces this can lead to an underestimation of the daylight levels. For a transparent surface material with only specular reflection like Plexiglas the daylight calculation is incorrect.

Room units: If an IDA ICE model with a Water Radiator or a Cooling Device is saved as a packed file in an earlier version and then opened in IDA ICE 4.8, the properties of these room units will be changed to the ones of the default device type. This will affect the design power of the room unit. The default device usually has a larger capacity, so this problem has practical consequences mostly when the amount of room unit heat exchange capacity is critical, such as in heat pump applications.

Driving pressure over leaks and openings is always computed as if the zone was well-mixed. There will be an error for zones with a vertical temperature gradient, i.e. when displacement ventilation or given gradient is used in the Climate zone model.

Lokalisierung Schweiz: Wenn im Modell eine wassergeführte Kühlung definiert ist, wird diese für das automatisch erstellte Modell für den Nachweis SIA 180 C.1 „sommerlicher Wärmeschutz“ nicht entfernt. Das Nachweismodell weist somit weiterhin eine Kühlung aus, welche manuell zu entfernen ist.

Window shading on sloped roof windows from imported shading objects is incorrectly calculated. This can potentially lead to errors in the zone heat balance.

Time-split parallelization: When using time-split parallelization and the simulation period overlaps more than one calendar year, a time-split period may become incorrect if it is wholly within the second year.

Exhaust air heat recovery (new AHU and corresponding ESBO plant component in 4.7.1):

  • The mass flow in the liquid circuit may become wrong.

  • The design temperature difference parameter in the ESBO plant is not available at the standard level.

  • Design conditions that do not lead to condensation are rejected.

The model still delivers physically correct results, but the design operating point becomes different from that intended.

Integrated shadings in the outer window of a double façade:

  • For a venetian blind, the slat angle is always 45°, regardless of set angle.

  • If the control “Sun” is chosen, the shading is always drawn.

  • If the control “Sun AND Schedule” is set, the shading is controlled by the irradiation level on the inside of the window, regardless of what is chosen.

  • If “New custom control” (ShadeCtrlMacro) is chosen and “Combined with built-in light control” is marked, the light control is ignored.

Deutsche Lokalisation, DIN 4108-2 Add-In: Wenn für eine Zone des Ausgangsmodells unter "In Betrieb" die Voreinstellung "Wenn belegt" durch einen Zeitplan ersetzt wird so wird diese Einstellung im DIN 4108-2 Nachweismodel beibehalten. Korrekte Übertemperaturgradstunden erhält man nur wenn im Nachweismodell der Wert wieder auf "wenn belegt" eingestellt wird.

Daylighting: When selecting “Daylighting” in the “Requested output” under the “Simulation” tab, a simplified calculation of the illuminance in zones with an occupant present is performed. When using the detailed window model with an integrated shading that diffuses the light, the solar (total shortwave) properties are used instead of the visual properties for the diffused light. Note that this bug does not affect the daylight calculation performed under the “Daylight” tab.

External shading: When setting the control of an external solar shading to a value in between 1 and 0 (which are the values normally used for on/off), the result deviate from the expected weighted average of the results for 1 and 0.

Miljöbyggnad: The value of “g-syst”, given in “Miljöbyggnad”, includes, when using the standard window, solar heat transferred though the frame, which is not according to the rules of “Miljöbyggnad”.

Deutsche Lokalisation, DIN 4108-2 Add-In: Bei Nichtwohngebäuden wird der Zeitplan "din41082-7-18 weekdays" konstant als "0" angesetzt, auch wenn wochentags zwischen 07:00 Uhr und 18:00 Uhr der Wert "1" angezeigt wird. Dies hat fundamentale Auswirkungen auf die Berechnung.
